Dashboard updates

Ever After supports update notifications through the WordPress dashboard. When a new version is available, you will see an update notice under Appearance → Themes or in the Dashboard → Updates screen.

To update, click the update button and let WordPress download and install the new version. Your content and settings are preserved during the update.

Warning

Always back up your site before updating. While updates are designed to preserve content, a backup ensures you can recover if anything goes wrong.

Manual updates

If you prefer to update manually or if the automatic update is not available:

  1. Download the latest theme zip from your purchase email or by contacting BlueSpark.
  2. In WordPress, go to Appearance → Themes.
  3. Delete the existing Ever After theme (your content is stored separately and will not be lost).
  4. Upload and activate the new zip file using the same process as the original installation.

Tip

If you have made direct file edits to the theme (not recommended), those changes will be lost during an update. Use a child theme for custom code.

After updating

After installing an update:

  • Visit your site and confirm the pages display correctly.
  • Check the RSVP and registry sections if you are using them.
  • Clear any caching plugins or CDN caches so visitors see the latest version.
  • Review the changelog (if provided) for notes on new features or changes.
